Whole-house water filtration

Whole-House Water Filtration in Palm Beach and Broward Counties

Pitcher filters treat a few quarts in the fridge. Whole-home carbon treats the incoming line, so showers, laundry, and kitchen taps share the same filtered supply. It is selected for chlorine-related taste and odor—not as a softener.

Choose filtration for the issue it is meant to address

Whole-home filtration treats water at the incoming supply for connected household fixtures. Carbon can address disinfectant-related taste and odor when the selected media and system are suitable. Sediment and other concerns may need different treatment; one filter is not a promise to remove everything.

Standard activated carbon and catalytic carbon are not interchangeable for every application. Catalytic carbon is media designed for applications involving chloramine. The assessment determines the appropriate treatment and configuration; a utility disinfectant label alone does not select equipment.

Filtration is distinct from softening: hardness minerals are the softener’s job. Under-sink RO has a separate drinking-water role. We review water conditions, household demand, incoming plumbing, space and any required drain/backwash provision before finalizing the installation.

Whole-house filtration

Filtration is not softening

Most municipal-water homes in Palm Beach County and Broward County receive treated, disinfected supply. That treatment is standard. Many people still notice a chlorine taste or odor in drinking water, ice, and showers.

A whole-home carbon tank is the system we use for those aesthetic issues at every fixture. Depending on media and the water itself, carbon is also used to reduce certain chemicals and sediment. We confirm the right media after the in-home test.

If hardness, spots, and scale are the main complaint, you need a true water softener—not more carbon. Most municipal homes here discuss both, which is the combined filtration + softener recommendation.

Optional under-sink reverse osmosis is a separate drinking-water upgrade and does not replace whole-house filtration.

South Florida homes

Whole-house filtration is a placement and plumbing job, not just a tank.

The carbon tank sits on the incoming water line—usually in a garage or utility space—so treated water feeds the house. That requires space, a place to service the tank, and a clean connection to the main.

HOA communities in Boca Raton and Palm Beach Gardens often prefer interior placement. Older Lake Worth and east Delray homes may have tighter mechanical spaces. The free water test is when we look at that—not after you have already agreed to a catalog photo.

How filtration fits the whole home

Carbon treats the supply feeding showers, laundry, and sinks. Softening addresses hardness on that same line when needed. A kitchen RO faucet is optional and point-of-use only.

Whole-home carbon and softening are commonly discussed for municipal-water homes. Private wells are reviewed separately and may need different equipment or testing.

Is whole-home filtration the right first step?

Taste and odor concerns often point to carbon filtration—but some homes also need softening or drinking-water RO. Answer a few questions and we’ll help sort the mix.

FAQ

Filtration questions

What does a whole-home carbon filter do?+

It treats water as it enters the home, typically improving chlorine-related taste and odor at sinks, showers, and laundry. It is not a pitcher filter, and it is selected after an in-home test.

Will a carbon filter soften my water?+

No. Carbon filtration and softening do different jobs. Hardness needs a true ion-exchange softener.

Do I still need filters in the fridge?+

A whole-home carbon system treats the water feeding the house. Some fridge dispensers still have a small local filter. We can talk through what is redundant after we see the home.
