Well water

Pressure tank problems and short cycling

When a well pump turns on and off too often, the pressure tank and controls are often part of the story—educational context for homeowners.

What short cycling feels like at the house

Short cycling is when a well pump starts and stops more frequently than expected. Homeowners may notice flickering pressure, unusual pump noise patterns, or a pump that seems to run in short bursts. A failing or waterlogged pressure tank, incorrect pressure switch settings, or related control issues are common parts of that conversation.
